A group of people who were strangers on the first day are leaving Israel after one week as a family.

These are the things I like about my work. The places, the experiences, the fun. But first of all, the people.

The group chat is full of photos from our trip this week. This is how ChatGPT summed it up. Apparently, we took the biblical experience very seriously! 🌊🤣

While the world rushes toward winter, someone in J While the world rushes toward winter, someone in Jerusalem is still harvesting olives. 🫒

Today, near the Western Wall, I saw a man harvesting olives from the trees. A simple sight, but in Jerusalem, even a small moment can carry a story.

The olive harvest takes place from October through December, roughly between Sukkot and Hanukkah. Across Israel, people harvest according to the ripeness of their olives and the rhythm of the seasons, often racing to finish before the winter rains arrive.

In an agricultural society, olives and olive oil were essential to daily life and the economy, used for cooking, lighting, and personal care.
In Jerusalem, oil also held profound religious and symbolic significance, used in the anointing of kings and prophets.

Watching the harvest, I was reminded that Jerusalem isn’t only a city of ancient stones and grand historical events. It’s a place where traditions continue and everyday life still carries echoes of the past.

Sometimes, you don’t need to look for a story. You just need to notice what’s happening right in front of you.

There’s a difference between reading a biblical st There’s a difference between reading a biblical story and standing where it happened.

Yesterday was a day of Bible and archaeology, crossing the Judean Hills from east to west - and traveling through thousands of years of history along the way.

🏛️ Herodium - king Herod 'the Great' palace, where he left his extraordinary mark on the landscape. A great way to understand more about his figure and impact

🌿 Gush Etzion, my 'hometown' - a region where the biblical landscape and modern Israeli history meet.

🕊️ Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem - a place of deep historical and spiritual significance, the connection to our ancestors

⚔️ And finally, the Valley of Elah - where we arrived at perhaps the most famous showdown between two individuals in history: David and Goliath. I like it even more since watching 'the house of David' series

We can read these stories at home, study the archaeology, and imagine the landscape.

But something changes when you stand in the actual place.

The hills become real. The distances make sense. The geography begins to explain the story. And suddenly, what seemed like a distant tale becomes something you can almost touch.

That’s what I love about guiding in Israel: helping people move beyond the story on the page and experience the place behind it.

**Some weeks are about places. Others are about pe **Some weeks are about places. Others are about people. This week was about both. 😊**

Another week on the road, with a few moments worth sharing.

🏙️ I showed guests of a company around Jerusalem, including their very first visit to the Old City. There’s something special about seeing Jerusalem through the eyes of someone experiencing it for the first time.

💧 I took a family to a beautiful desert spring with a rather unusual habit: it empties and fills up again roughly every 20 minutes! Known as the “Crazy Spring,” this natural phenomenon is a reminder that Israel always has something surprising and beautiful waiting around the corner.

❤️ And then came one of the week's most heartwarming moments.

I met a family I had guided a few years ago (PC, pre-covid as we call it), when I had the privilege of guiding their son's Bar Mitzvah. This time, they were back in Israel for their daughter's wedding.

Seeing familiar faces again, catching up, and realizing how much life has happened since we last met — that's one of the things I love most about this work.

You set out to show people places, but sometimes you end up being part of their stories, too.

Now it's time to slow down, enjoy a little rest, and recharge for the week ahead.

**Shabbat Shalom! Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend and some well-deserved time to rest.** 🥂

The kids are back at school. And honestly, I’m hap The kids are back at school.
And honestly, I’m happy to be back too. 😊

Sukkot was a wonderful time for us as a family. The weather was great, we got out, traveled, explored, and simply enjoyed being together.

Now that the kids are back at school, I’m excited to get back to my own routine, and to getting back to guiding.

Back to Jerusalem.
Back to the road.
Back to the stories, the places, and the people I love sharing.

The months ahead are already filling up with tours, groups and delegations, and I’m looking forward to all the new faces, conversations and experiences that come with them.

There’s something wonderful about returning to a busy routine when it’s a routine you’re grateful for.

So here’s to the months ahead,
to good work, new people, new stories, and plenty of time on the road.

L’chaim to routine. 🥂

Big Drama in the sky today, but in the streets of Big Drama in the sky today, but in the streets of Jerusalem there was also drama. A much less noticeable one.
Thousands of people were walking through the city center, down Ben Yehuda and Jaffa streets.

We stopped to listen to the Jerusalem boys choir. They sang songs in Hebrew, English, French and Arabic.

The man who got on stage and danced next to them with a big smile, we were told, is called Gershon and 30 years ago he spent time in the Russian prisons as a 'refusnik'. I explained to the kids that he was in prison because he wanted to come to Israel as a Jew. A prisoner for zion.

After a few songs more people got up to dance, young and old.
A group of women formed out of the crowd. The young teenage girls found themselves dancing with an older Yemenite woman and other women who joined the circle.

If you want to see what Am Yisrael Chai means, take a look at this. (and also at the incredible heroes who saved the flight, omg)

Taking into consideration that traveling with three generations isn't easy.
Different points of interest, attention and ability could be challenging, but this time could also be so rewarding and create life time memories and family experiences.

* A driver/guide makes it much easier and allows parents to focus on the kids and their experience
* Because it's summer time, every day includes a water activity
* Days are planned to be fun and educational, and aimed for the whole family to enjoy.
